Overview

The Senior Web/Print Designer position is a leadership role in Creative Services and is responsible for designing the overall layout and aesthetic for AACR’s web-based and printed content, operating within the established brand guidelines of the organization. Working as part of the Marketing and Creative Services Department, their duties include advanced graphic design projects, meeting with colleagues to understand expectations and adherence to deadlines.

Responsibilities

•Work under the direction of the Director of Creative Services to create a consistent look and feel of AACR web-based and print materials.
•Act in a lead role on larger-scale design campaigns that encompass a variety of touchpoints to ensure maximum visibility and consistency.
•Work within established brand guidelines to develop web graphics, including web banners, gifs, rotating banners, videos, apps, HTML code, email, mobile, other web-based products, and applications.
•Act in a leadership role in Creative Services to meet the web-based design needs of the organization, and act as the departmental liaison on all web-based design initiatives.
•Be responsible for the Conceptualization and implementation of web-based design solutions that meet marketing strategies.
•Be familiar with WordPress themes, widgets, plugins, categories, and tags.
•Update WordPress HTML and CSS for AACR ancillary sites (e.g., Leading Discoveries and Rally for Medical Research).
•Code HTML and CSS in table-based format for email marketing campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and internal PATH platforms.
•Adjust HTML and CSS as inline code with knowledge of media queries.
•Create pixel perfect high-fidelity wireframes for new landing pages in mobile, tablet, and desktop view.
•Possess knowledge of building HTML 5 banner ads using HTML and CSS.
•Design AACR print collaterals which include, but are not limited to postcards, letterheads, forms, business cards, brochures, newsletters, mailers, flyers, web graphics, etc.
•Keep up to date on current design methodologies and maintain technical knowledge by attending design workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
•Present visual solutions to internal clients and communicate strategies behind design ideas and executions.
•Allocate appropriate amount of time to each work order.
•Work collaboratively with other AACR departments to develop ideas and concepts to meet their collateral needs.
•Perform all the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodations, and other tasks and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

•Associate degree in graphic design, web design, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is preferred.
•A minimum of seven years of experience in web design, layout, and production, preferably in an advertising agency or studio environment. Lead designer experience preferred.
•Outstanding creativity and the ability to develop innovative ideas and concepts.
•Excellent coordination, organizational, and prioritization skills.
•Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and proven ability to communicate with all levels of management and external vendors.
•Ability to communicate conflicting deadline and realistic estimates of project completion times to both internal clients and managers.
•Ability to work well in a team environment.
•Expert knowledge in WordPress, Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash, HTML, HTML5, other web developing applications, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Macintosh platform, and PC/Windows environment.
•Highly organized, detail oriented, and deadline driven performance.
