This position provides excellent and comprehensive customer service to members and potential members while supporting the membership application submission and review process, assessing the qualifications of members and candidates to ensure their eligibility in specific membership categories, assisting with provision of overall membership services including fulfillment of member benefits, and entering and maintaining accurate and comprehensive information for members and prospective members in the AACR’s database system of record.
•Provides excellent written and oral communications with existing and potential members providing excellent membership service; Drafts and produces correspondence, email and website content, documents, etc.
•Actively listens to members to identifying their needs and offer guidance; Investigates and resolves or escalates issues, as appropriate.
•Coordinates, processes, and tracks membership application submissions for new candidates, lapsed members, and existing members requesting a transfer to a more appropriate category; Monitors and works closely with team members to ensure that members applications submitted in response to promotion campaigns are processed as directed.
•Enters, monitors, and maintains comprehensive and accurate information for members, some of which include address and other contact information, dues payment, demographic information, scientific areas of research, and other appropriate information in the membership database.
•Collaborates with team members to ensure that all changes to member and potential member records have been accounted for and reviewed; works to maintain the integrity of the database system of record.
•Closely monitors and corresponds with members regarding their eligibility for specific membership categories; Mines the database for information that would assist with determining and maintaining member eligibility.
•Coordinates and compiles report and data on member benefit usage and tracks membership trends.
•Supports Senior Manager in a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks related to membership, including assisting with organizing and maintaining files and other relevant documents in an organized and timely manner.
•Performs the essential functions of the position and other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Manager or Director.
•Bachelor’s Degree
•3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a non-profit or high-volume environment
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills including spelling, grammar, and customer service skills
•Excellent organizational and time management skills
•Ability to communicate with individuals in an enthusiastic, passionate, and persuasive manner so as to promote AACR membership
•High level of accuracy and attention to details in the performance of tasks and functions
•Ability to prioritize, follow through on multiple tasks, and work independently
•Ability to meet frequent and multiple deadlines
•Ability to create content for website, email, reports and documents
•Willing and able to possibly travel once or more per year in support of Membership activities
•Proficient in MS Office with a strong knowledge of Excel or other database programs
•Basic knowledge of Web content management helpful
