Overview

Provides support to the Director and Senior Director in all aspects of the scientific review and grants administration. Assists in the development and execution of the grant review and evaluation process and in the generation of reports and other related materials to be presented to funders, review committees, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develops grant program guidelines and application requirements; generates materials for posting on websites and in grant directories.
    •Responsible for grant review, administration, and evaluation; contributes to the management of multiple grant programs.
    •Evaluates grant terms, applicant and application eligibility, and other conditions in collaboration with related staff.
    •Works with marketing department and other staff to promote grant availability.
    •Prepares review and rating instructions for selection committees.
    •Assists in organizing selection meetings and conference calls; rating and review process; drafting meeting reports.
    •Drafts grantees’ terms and conditions documents and obtains all administrative information necessary to support post-award administration.
    •Assists in the preparation of post-award reports and payment schedules.
    •Monitors grantee progress in collaboration with other staff.
    •Processes and approves grant payments.
    •Works closely with the communications and public relations department to publicize successful projects and grantees and to generate public facing content such as media pieces, donor reports, and websites.
    •Works closely with AACR Foundation to develop new funding models and maintain relationships with funders.
    •Participates in developing grant-related sections of the AACR Annual Report and Annual Grant Report in collaboration with other staff.
    •Performs other essential tasks and duties required of the position in order to support the Director, Senior Director, and organization leadership as needed.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MD/PhD
    •0-4 years of postgraduate experience.
    •Cancer research expertise, including research publications.
    •Ability to exercise good judgment.
    •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    •Ability to adapt and respond in a fast-paced environment.
    •High motivation with excellent judgment and well-developed analytic abilities.
    •Exceptional interpersonal skills and personal demeanor.
    •Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
    •Experience in grants administration and management highly desired.
    •Experience with on-line grant application or management systesm (such as ProposalCentral), or other relevant database-driven systems.
    •Highly skilled in Microsoft Office 365.
