AACR membership includes more than 58,000 laboratory, translational, and clinical researchers; population scientists; other health care professionals; and patient advocates residing in 141 countries and territories around the world. Presently, 32% of members live outside the United States and 22% of AACR’s international members are located in countries with emerging economies.   Its mission is to prevent and cure all cancers. The programs and activities of the AACR foster the exchange of new knowledge among scientists and physicians in cancer research as well as in related sciences. The AACR publishes ten peer-reviewed scientific journals and an award-winning magazine for cancer patients and their loved ones; convenes topical scientific conferences and an annual meeting that draws more than 22,500 participants; offers educational workshops that train young investigators in a variety of scientific and clinical areas; funds research fellowships, career development awards, and research grants for both senior and junior investigators; raises public awareness of the progress in the biology, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer; engages actively in advocacy for increased federal research funding and other national policies that accelerate progress against cancer; and interacts with regulatory agencies to support regulatory science and policy.

 

Job Summary:

 

Provides administrative, clerical, and project management support to the Senior Administrative Manager, Program Administrators, and Program Associates of the Stand Up To Cancer program. Communicates with donors regarding grant recipients, and with scientists regarding their participation in conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the director of Research and Grants Administration, and the Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) group, as needed.
  • Communicates regularly with the director, manager, program administrators, and program coordinator to assist in coordinating internal meetings, conferences, specific projects, etc.
  • Prepares and expedites special mailings and supporting documents for projects.
  • Assists with meeting preparations and mailings to grant recipients, donor organizations, chairpersons of committees, and other VIPs.
  • Drafts minutes of various meetings and teleconferences.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of internal meetings.
  • Maintains the SU2C group databases and filing/tracking systems.
  • Executes mass mailings and mail merges.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming messaged for the SU2C group, as required.
  • Performs all of the essential duties and functions of the position and other related duties as assigned and as necessary.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • A minimum two years of administrative experience, preferably in non-profit environment..
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in interactions with VIPs.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow through on projects and take guided initiative.
  • Ability to adapt and respond in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and appearance.

 

Education and Training:

 

  • BA or BS degree or higher/equivalent
  • Or four years of administrative experience

 

Computer Knowledge:

 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn new softwares (Proposal Central, Asana, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Outstanding written or oral communication skills.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling and syntax.
