Overview

The Program Coordinator, Scientific Programs assists with the coordination of all programs and activities associated with the AACR Scientific Working Groups (Cancer Evolution, Cancer Immunology, Cancer Prevention, Chemistry in Cancer Research, Molecular Epidemiology, Pediatric Cancer, Radiation Science and Medicine) and Fellows of the AACR Academy. This position is also responsible for coordinating the formation of all AACR committees on an annual basis and assisting with the AACR’s Scientific Achievement Awards platform, as needed.

 

Responsibilities

•Oversee the tracking and recording of communications and appointment for all AACR Annual Meeting, standing, scientific achievement award, and scientific grant review committees, including preparing, organizing, and maintaining both annual and historical committee file repositories.
•Oversee the creation, preparation, and maintenance of webpages specific to AACR committees, scientific working groups, Fellows of the AACR Academy, and all other relevant pages on the official AACR website.
•Oversee the administration of elections for scientific working group Chair-Elect positions, AACR Academy President-Elect, and annual classes of Fellows of the AACR Academy
•Create LinkedIn pages for each scientific working group and develop tailored content strategies for all eight scientific working groups in order to stimulate and maximize community engagement
•Assist with the planning and execution of all necessary AACR Annual Meeting sessions
•Manage VIP guestlists for annual Fellows of the AACR Academy Induction Ceremony and Scientific Achievement Awards Recognition Dinner
•Create post-Annual Meeting wrap-up reports detailing process improvements for all future meetings
•Schedule weekly team regroup meetings and assist with the coordination of scheduling for all necessary scientific working group and AACR Academy-related meetings

Qualifications

•BA or BS degree required; knowledge of science and medical terminology as well as webpage construction and content building a plus.
•Eligible candidates must have 1-2 years of administrative experience, preferably in a non-profit, academic, or scientific environment, be highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and possess the following attributes:
•One – two years of related experience in a professional office or nonprofit environment;
•Must possess the following attributes:
  oAbility to work independently and within team environments while prioritizing tasks, adapting to diverse workloads, and following through on projects in a timely manner.
  oAble to navigate technological software and platforms.
  oExcellence in written and verbal communications, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  oStrong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
