Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientific Research Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cancer research. They will work as a key member within a highly collaborative scientifically-driven team to develop impactful documents, including AACR Cancer Progress Reports, that effectively communicate the impact of medical research to various audiences, including the scientific community, policymakers, patients, and the general public. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a subject knowledge expert in cancer research to advance AACR’s robust scientific agenda. 
  • Stay abreast of the recent advances in major areas of cancer research including basic, translational, and clinical research, and population sciences 
  • Review, analyze, compile, and present cancer-related information from the scientific literature for the development of AACR Cancer Progress Report, AACR Cancer Disparities Progress Report, other reports that emanate from the department, original scholarly articles, scientific surveys, and white papers.  
  • Prepare documents such as, but not limited to, scientific commentaries, perspectives, expert remarks on selected topics for dissemination and use in various settings.  
  • Participate in AACR Scientific Conferences, Future of Cancer Research Innovation Summits, and Educational Workshops to maintain awareness of state-of-the-art scientific advancements and to gain necessary information to prepare written reports for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ensure all written content meets the highest standards of scientific accuracy and integrity. 
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned and as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in cancer research. 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to translate complex science to both lay and professional audiences utilizing various communication vehicles. 
  • Ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific information while ensuring clarity and accuracy of content. 
  • Experience in population sciences, global burden of cancer, and/or cancer disparities research is a plus. 
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, including working effectively in a team setting with AACR colleagues, members, and leaders. 
  • Ability to work on and coordinate multiple cross-collaborative projects to consistently meet deadlines as established by production timelines. 

 

Education and Experience

  • PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in cancer or a related scientific field. 
  • Five or more years of relevant postgraduate experience with a record of peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals. 
  • Scientific or medical writing experience in an academic, government, or biopharmaceutical setting is a plus.
