A Business Analyst is primarily responsible for working with all business units to help implement technology solutions by determining the requirements of a project, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. This role strives to ensure that IT solutions reflect the functionality necessary to address business goals and objectives.

 

Day-to-day tasks include conducting requirements analysis meetings, developing requirement specifications, process flow diagrams, wireframes, and other functional artifacts. This role is also responsible for developing and coordinating user acceptance testing to confirm that deliverables are correctly aligned with requirements. Finally this role should proactively seek out areas where business processes can be automated or improved using technology and assists with other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Elicit and Analyze Requirements
  1. Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements sessions, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  2. Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  3. Understand, document, and propose value-added solutions to current business processes
  4. Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
  1. Liaise with Stakeholders
  1. Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to capture requirements and business rules
  2. Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow
  3. Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements
  4. Coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing for new system implementations and software patch releases
  1. Write and Maintain Documentation and Diagram Workflows
  1. In conjunction with development team, create requirements specifications according to defined standards, using natural language
  2. Produce detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training
  3. Track and fully document changes for functional and business specifications
  4. Obtain stakeholder sign-off for documented deliverables
  5. Develop and maintain up-to-date technical, functional, and process documentation
  6. Create diagrams of workflows and data flows as needed
  1. Plan and Complete Project Deliverables
  1. Conduct assigned project activities in alignment with project timelines and budget
  2. Work with internal stakeholders to support and implement solutions according to stakeholder requirements
  3. Work with IT Project Manager and other team members to execute according to plan, focusing on deliverables aligning with requirements
  4. Develop quality assurance test plans and direct quality assurance testing
  5. Identify issues and risks, ensuring that they are appropriately raised and actioned
  6. Participate in implementation and provide post-implementation support of projects

Qualifications

Core Competencies:

 

  1. Ability to extrapolate from unclear stakeholder descriptions and/or limited information to produce requirements that can be verified with stakeholders to confirm their needs/asks
  2. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English are required.
  3. Effective problem solving and troubleshooting ability required
  4. Models systems and data to a logical level, user interface design, and prototyping, decision tables/trees, data flows
  5. Writing unambiguous, verified requirements to a testable level (functional and non-functional requirements)
  6. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines required
  7. Ability to think critically
  8. Ability to analyze data, communicate with stakeholders, and develop recommendations for solving problems while exhibiting realistic understanding of solutions
  9. Ability to recommend professional best practices in information technology for non-profits and associations
  10. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  11. Ability to facilitate/lead discussions
  12. A desire to do good in the world by helping support our members and our organization in the mission to ultimately cure cancers

Job Qualifications:

 

  1. At least two years of recent Business Analyst experience is REQUIRED
  2. At least two years of recent experience in Salesforce is REQUIRED
  3. Salesforce certifications are preferred
  4. At least two years implementing application systems from the functional perspective is preferred
  5. At least two years of experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is preferred
  6. Knowledge/Experience with Scrum/Agile methodologies is preferred
  7. Knowledge/Experience with Data Management is preferred
  8. Knowledge of SOQL/SQL is preferred

Education Requirements:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. (Note this is a preference and not a hard requirement. Candidates with demonstrated experience in the role who may not meet this preference are encouraged to apply.)

Group Profile:

The Enterprise Platform Services and Data Management Team oversees the software and processes that facilitate the connection and collaboration of the organization’s more than 58,000 members at the forefront of cancer research.

 

We manage the enterprise Customer Relationship Management (eCRM) solution along with its related systems and customizations that support our Membership, Event Registration, and other business processes. In addition, we are standing up the organization’s Master Data Management (MDM) solution, as well as its enterprise Data Warehouse (DW).

 

Our group is also responsible for the AACR IT Help Desk and is in the process of building out a more robust customer service offering, for internal and external constituents.
